Chicago Lofts Not Enough to Save Historic Theatre?

Chicago lofts may not be enough to help save the landmark DuPage Theatre in downtown Lombard, a Chicago suburb on the West side.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Lombard Village Board member Steven D. Sebby is pushing a resolution to demolish the theatre. Theatre management is puzzled by the move, as they had recently put forth a plan to build luxury Chicago lofts above the theatre to bring in more revenue. The creation of the second floor Chicago lofts would be part of a larger renovation and restoration project. The theatre was built in 1928, and has been part of the National Register of Historic Places since 1987.
